India-China border disengagement in Ladakh to be completed in next 24 hours: Sources

The disengagement between the Indian Army and its Chinese counterpart is ongoing in Depsang Plains and Demchok in eastern Ladakh and is expected to be completed soon, sources told India Today TV.
India and China are preparing for coordinated patrolling as the disengagement process will be completed within the next 24 hours, they said.
As of Monday, around 80 to 90 per cent of the disengagement process has been completed by both armies in Depsang and Demchok. This includes the removal of all types of infrastructure and the withdrawal of troops on both sides.
There has been no discussion yet on the four buffer zones, including Galwan. Sources said that there will be talks at Corps Commander level to start patrolling on the buffer zone once patrolling begins in Demchok and Depsang.
Verification will be conducted both physically and aerially, and the process currently relies on mutual trust.
Local military commanders from both countries connect via hotline every morning to discuss the day’s actions. Meetings are also held at a designated meeting point once or twice a day.
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar announced on October 27 that India and China would soon resume patrolling along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Ladakh, restoring the arrangement as it was in April 2020, before the border standoff began.
Following a significant agreement between India and China, both countries have started troop disengagement at two friction points in eastern Ladakh’s Demchok and Depsang.
This agreement currently applies only to these two areas, with “talks still underway” for other regions.
